Men’s Health Month

Express Care of the Shoals encourages males to pay attention to their wellbeing every day of the year, but want to especially ask them to take this time to consider scheduling important health screenings now. June is Men's Health Month, and the 11th-17th is Men's Health Week.

Taking better care of yourself can be as easy as 1, 2, 3...

1. Eat Healthy - Start with small steps. Something as simple as saying "no” to super-sizing and “yes” to a healthy breakfast can make a difference. To get all the vitamins and minerals you need, eat many different types of food, and add at least one fruit and one vegetable to every meal.

2. Get Moving - Do yard work. Play a sport. Play with your kids or grandkids. Choose a distant parking spot. Keep comfortable walking shoes at work or in the car. Pick activities that you enjoy most so that you’ll stay motivated.

3. Make Prevention a Priority - Be sure to have regular screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, prostate health and more. Many health conditions can be prevented or detected early with regular checkups from your healthcare provider.

Depression, the #7 cause of death for men (according to The Mayo Clinic), affects 121 million people worldwide and causes 850,000 deaths every year. Treating depression without a doctor's help can be dangerous, as is purchasing anti-depressants online without a prescription. If you have signs of depression – such as feelings of sadness and loss of interest in normal activities – consult your doctor.

Only 1 our of 57,915 websites that offer ED meeds could be a legitimate pharmacy. NOT good odds! Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is commonly a symptom of underlying disease like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, metabolic syndrome, Parkinson's disease, and MS, among others. Yet ED meds are one of the most universally counterfeited and sold ubiquitously online. Counterfeiters may lace fake ED meeds with dangerous ingredients not approved for use like homosildenafil, hongdenafil, and heavy metals. Talk with your doctor about your ED concerns.

On average, men live about 5 years less than their female counterparts.

We want to see these statistics change! Schedule a checkup today!
